Like in the stock market, there are two schools of thought about handicapping a game. You can either use fundamental analysis or technical analysis. The fundamental analysis of a game involves analyzing the strength and weakness of the teams, the injury report, and all other characteristics of the matchup. The technical analysis focuses on statistics, trends and numbers.
Here we present several systems you can use or adapt for the major sports (NFL, NBA, MLB). We back-test all of our systems but unfortunately there is no existing tool to make sure they will be profitable in the future.
We also reference old systems that can have some value but are not reliable enough to be used consistently.
